Chinese herbal medicine uses natural ingredients, such as plants, minerals, and some animal products, to promote health and treat various ailments. It is based on the belief that the body's balance and harmony can be restored by using specific combinations of herbs within a formula. Chinese herbal medicine has a long history and is often used in conjunction with other traditional Chinese medicine practices, such as acupuncture, cupping and nutrition advice. Dr Nicci will prescribe a specific formula for your constitution that will be beneficial in prolonging the harmonising effects of your acupuncture treatment. Chinese herbal remedies are an holistic approach aiming to address the root causes of health issues and promote overall well-being.
Cupping is a traditional Chinese therapy that involves placing glass or silicon cups on the skin to create suction. The suction created by the cups draws the skin and underlying tissues into the cup, which is believed to promote Qi and blood flow, relieve muscle tension, and stimulate healing. Cupping is often used to treat pain, inflammation, and respiratory conditions. It can leave temporary marks on the skin, similar to circular bruises, but they typically fade within a few days. Cupping is a popular therapy that has gained attention in recent years, with many athletes and celebrities using it for its potential benefits.

Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture
Why not Glow from the inside out with Flow & Glow Cosmetic Acupuncture.
Dr Nicci offers you the chance to harmonise your body from the inside out and enhance your facial appearance while simultaneously regulating any constitutional imbalances in your body.
What is Cosmetic Acupuncture – And How Does it Work?
Popular in recent years yet used for centuries by the Chinese Empresses and concubines, cosmetic acupuncture uses 12-16mm stainless steel sterilised needles to transform scarred, dull or uneven skin and smooth out fine lines and deep creases.
Cosmetic acupuncture is a rejuvenating beauty treatment that can improve the texture, tone and appearance of the skin by stimulating fibroblasts to generate collagen and elastin, ultimately creating a more plump and glowing appearance.
During your Flow and Glow 60min session your tongue and pulse will be examined to determine any constitutional imbalances. You will then be pampered with a traditional Gua Sha Facial Massage to promote optimum blood circulation. This will be followed by the strategic placement of around 20 to 40 ultra-fine acupuncture needles in areas including the forehead, eyes, cheeks, jawline and neck.
The needles work at the epidermis and dermis to promote enhanced circulation and collagen production to the skin cells, while also stimulating soft tissue and muscles which may have wasted with aging. A painless alternative to botox, skin needling is relaxing, uplifting and 100% natural. Beneficial for teenagers to mature clients, Cosmetic Acupuncture can help firm the facial contours and reduce areas of concern. Improving blood flow and stimulating collagen production, it’s also a powerful preventative anti-ageing weapon.
Dr Nicci has worked extensively with Cosmeceutical Skincare brand Environ; created by world renown plastic surgeon; Dr Des Fernandes; the founder of Collagen Induction therapy (CIT), which works similarly to cosmetic acupuncture.
Who will benefit from Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Everyone! Dr Nicci works with people of all ages from teenagers to mature clients. Generally, people who may benefit from cosmetic acupuncture include; those with dry, dull or generally lacklustre skin, scarring (acne or other) and people with uneven skin tone or pigmentation. It can also help strengthen the skin and reduce skin flushing in those prone to redness.

How does Cosmetic Acupuncture work?
Cosmetic acupuncture is similar to skin needling, in that it creates a ‘micro trauma’ that helps to increase collagen production and reduce signs of ageing. However, the longer needles used in facial acupuncture are able to penetrate more deeply, with none of the discomfort or downtime associated with professional micro needling treatments.
1. LIFT & TONE
By targeting specific motor points (or the junctions between nerves and muscles) in the face, signals are sent to the Central Nervous System to instruct the muscles to perform a beneficial action. As tight muscles are instructed to relax, weak muscles are instructed to tighten or lift. Performed over a series of treatments, this technique helps to tighten, lift and tone the facial contours for a more youthful appearance.
2. TIGHTEN & FIRM
As we age, our natural stores of collagen and elastin decline, resulting in lax skin and fine lines and wrinkles. A form of collagen induction therapy (CIT), cosmetic acupuncture creates a painless, localised ‘micro trauma’ that sends the body into repair mode. This results in an increased production of collagen and elastin which may result in visibly firmer, plumper skin and a softening of fine lines and wrinkles either in a mature skin or as a preventative measure.
3. IMPROVE CIRCULATION
Radiant skin is achieved through Cosmetic Acupuncture by promoting free flowing Qi, removing blood stagnation, boosting blood circulation and increasing the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin.
4. GLOW & FLOW
Flow from the inside out, so that your Glow sparkles and shines always. Acupuncture points on the body are also addressed during your treatment to help restore harmony to the entire body, and promote healthy, hydrated and glowing skin, with a reduction in disharmonies or imbalances.

* Those with moderate or severe acne are usually not candidates for cosmetic acupuncture. Pregnant women should also consult with their doctor before booking a consult.
